What You Need to Know

WHAT IS ‘MEMORIAL DAY CHALLENGE’ (MDC)?

MDC is a 100% charitable event where local athletes from the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota area participate in the hero workout “Murph” at one event, as one fitness community.

WHEN, WHERE, WHO, WHY?

Date:  Monday, May 30th 8am - 2pm 

Location:  1860 Symes St, Long Lake, MN 55356

Who: There are 11 different divisions from kids to scaled to rx to partners and elite.  

Charities Supporting:  100% of our profits will go to two charities this year.  50% to MnFire and 50% to 23rd Veteran (more info on both below in the FAQs).

WHERE DO THE PROCEEDS GO?

100% of proceeds go to charities serving both first responders and local Veterans. Over the history of the event, Memorial Day Challenge has donated over $125,000 to charities providing for US Veterans.

WHERE EXACTLY IS LONG LAKE?

Long Lake is just about 4 miles west of downtown Wayzata. The event takes place at Nelson Lakeside Park on an outdoor rig, donated by Rogue, with plenty of room for spectators, and cheering squads.

We have a DJ, vendor booths, food trucks, raffle items, awesome prizes for podium finishers and a great community of local athletes participating!

HOW DO I STAY UPDATED ON EVENT INFORMATION?

HOW MANY VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED?

  • Judges are our biggest need.  These are only needed for the two elite heats.  

    • 10 Volunteers: Female Elite Heat:  8:50am - 9:50am.  Judges report at 8:40, meet athletes, then are done when athlete is finished (most likely less than an hour).

    • 25 Volunteers: Male Elite Heat:  1:30pm - 2:30pm.  Judges report at 1:15, meet athletes, then are done when athlete is finished.  

  • Other Volunteer Needs:

    • 2 at Registration Desk:  7am - 10am

    • 1 at Registration:  10am - 1pm

    • 1 to be on General Athlete Clean Up Duty (cleaning rig between athletes if needed, collecting whiteboards, etc)
